  3. In some of the examples just 
  4. discussed, I have noted that two 
  5. (or more) organizations are 
  6. possible. This fact brings out a 
  7. most important point: The 
  8. stimulus input is, logically 
  9. speaking, ambiguous. We 
  10. considered another instance of 
  11. ambiguity in discussing size 
  12. and shape constancy. An image 
  13. of a given visual angle can 
  14. represent objects of all possible 
  15. sizes; only by taking account of 
  16. distance can the perceptual 
  17. system infer what sized object 
  18. is producing that image.
